Deborah’s Coaching Style

As your coach, I am committed to creating a safe supportive positive atmosphere for my clients to work towards their goals. My style is direct, honest and straight forward enough to get the results you’re looking for but I also believe that humor and laughter are an important part of life and any journey.

The relationship between coach and client is Co-Creative, meaning that we both have an active role. Through this collaboration, focused on your goal and agenda, we create more power to facilitate the meaningful changes you desire.

My Role:

  • I am not a therapist, counselor or consultant. I am a trained coach using honed communication skills to support you as a detached thinking partner.
  • I will listen closely to you, respond to what I hear and ask thought-provoking questions. If I hear something in your voice or language that sparks an intuitive thought, I’m likely to ask you about it. If I am not on target just tell me. I’m not attached to being right!
  • I will offer you different perspectives and provide you mutually agreed upon accountability.
  • At the end of the session, if you do not mention what actions you are ready to take, I will make a coach request. I ask you to stretch yourself to deepen the work done in sessions by writing, taking a specific action, resolving relationships or things that feel incomplete. You are always free to negotiate, accept or decline.

Your Role:

  • Come to each session with a chosen topic you want to work with for that day. This is often called the Client Agenda and keeps us focused.
  • Come to each session centered and ready to engage.
  • Provide me with feedback in the moment about your coaching experience – what works and what doesn’t.
  • Be prepared to share your thoughts on any inquiries you were to think about or mutually agreed upon action steps you completed between our sessions.

I will tell you the truth with respect, humor and compassion. You’ll come away from your sessions energized, armed with fresh ideas, and renewed courage to move confidently forward with direction and purpose towards your goal.

I offer a COMPLIMENTARY 30-minute Introductory Consultation to help you understand how coaching works and how it can move you to achieve your full potential. We will set a time to get acquainted and I will answer any questions you have about the coaching process. We can discuss what areas of your life you would like to address and what outcomes you would like to achieve as a result of coaching. It is during this call we will decide if we are a good match for each other and if you are ready to make the changes to make it happen.

All of my coaching sessions are conducted over the phone. There are a number of benefits to coaching over the phone:

  • It’s convenient; saves drive time and you don’t have worry about what you look like!
  • It’s less distracting and can be done in the environment you feel safe and most comfortable in.
  • It allows me to keep my fees reasonable and you can work with me regardless of where you live.

Coaching is a powerful relationship that can propel you forward with your goals and dreams. I offer several options for you to take advantage of.

“I am not afraid of storms, I am learning to sail my own ship.”
